There’s a trend, and it’s growing. It’s called ‘experiential’ holidays. Put in simple language, customers are booking holiday rentals but instead are booking an experience. Look at Apple, Disney or MacDonald’s. Love them or loathe them, they deliver memorable experiences. And as a holiday home owner you should be no different.
That’s why boutique hotels are growing fast and stealing business from the bigger (and often blander) hotel chains as holidaymakers search out more special experiences. Stepping up your game – focusing better on the experience you provide – and making everything you do – from responding to the initial enquiry to long after your customer have left – should reinforce their experience.
I’ve previously written about the need to focus on the experience here. For 2012 use that focus to hold your prices, not decrease them. The market’s getting tougher – so make a distinct difference and offer value (not cheapness), an experience (not just a bed to lie in), and quality (not your cast-off furniture) to stand out from your competition.

Hi, nice post. Enjoyed whole of it. Well Done keep us driving along
Agreed. As well as value for money holiday rentals appeal to travellers because they offer a unique experience of the chosen destination. Make the most of your property by styling it in a way that reflects your location. Travellers love authentic, original properties that are comfortable places to relax.

Your absolutely right here. Competing on your price gets you nowhere except into trouble sooner rather than later probably. its a dififcult marketplace with some owners acting crazily on price and undermining our efforts.
